Core Activities on SSRonline

Applied Research

We have an active research programme that seeks to move forward the intellectual frontiers of the security sector management debate. Our work in this area is supported by our regional coordinators and net works, and delivers valuable outputs to policy makers, practitioners and across civil society.

Education and training

The Cranfield team offers a range of short-term training options to support security sector management. Based on condensed and more practical versions of our post-graduate curriculum, and according to a prospectus tailored to cater to the needs of both the experienced and inexperienced practitioner and policymaker.

Knowledge Management

The CSSM have the capacity to develop innovative and fully interactive bespoke knowledge management instruments that better facilitate joint planning and decision making.

Lesson Learning Analysis

Within international policy and practitioner circles, the need for a more sophisticated approach to lesson learning has been expressed repeatedly. The team at Cranfield has developed a sophisticated methodology supporting Lessons Learned analysis – one that places almost as much emphasis on the context as the actual lesson itself.
